The Patriarchal Commission for Priestly Formation has prepared the present document, Directives for Vocational Awareness in the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, so that we may all be more fully aware of our role in fostering priestly and religious vocations in our Church. Every ordained priest and man or woman in religious consecrated life can recall someone, who nourished the seed of their vocation. It may have been a parent, a close relative, a parish priest or a good friend, someone who inspired them to embark on a path of discipleship and service in Christian love and an encouraging spirit. In presenting this document, I ask you to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our Church, and to support those who are in vocation discernment and formation for ordained ministry. The Lord always provides for His Church, calling those he loves into His Holy service. I encourage you to 2 have open eyes and an open heart, in order to recognize vocations in your family and in your community. I would like to express my gratitude to His Beatitude Sviatolsav and the members of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for inspiring our Commission members to undertake this task. My heartfelt appreciation also must be expressed to the members of our Commission for their efforts and work in producing this document.
